On the 9th of May, 2018 the 14th Malaysian General Election was held. In an unprecedented victory, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, which had been the country's federal Opposition prior to the election, won a simple majority in the Dewan Rakyat together with the Sabah Heritage Party (WARISAN). The election heralded the first regime change since Malaya's independence in 1957.
Since the election many of you have requested that we organise a lecture on the Malaysian Parliamentary System. We have been fortunate to be able to arrange for Faisal Abd Rahman, an expert on this subject to talk to us this month. This talk will be a brief introduction of the Government System in Malaysia, its historical origins and current development. It will include the constitutional monarchy, the federal system and parlimentary democracy.
Faisal Abd Rahman is currently the Advisor of the Association of Tourism Training Institutes of Malaysia (ATTIM), after serving two terms as its President - an organisation involved in developing all National skills standards for Tourist Guiding, Locaslised Community Host and Tour Management. Facilitated the development and implementation of the UNESCO Cultural Heritage Guide course in Malaysia. Regular speaker for Muzium Negara volunteers. Council Member for the International Council for Monument and Sites (ICOMOS) Malaysia.
Please join us for what should be an interesting & informative morning
